Why I Can't Stop Teaching Music

I remember the first time a couple approached me about teaching their daughters music. One wanted to play piano and the other, the violin. I was fifteen at the time, a total novice myself, and up for the challenge.

I Have a Confession To Make

Being a writer is hard.

I admit it.

I am an author. I've tried to be other things and it didn't go well. Bursts of imagination set me on fire, characters leap out at me from the pages and tug me along on their adventures. Stories run in my veins, but that doesn't mean they come easy. Sometimes, to get those stories out, I have to sweat. I have to cry. I have to bleed.

Anytime you pour that much heart and passion into anything, you risk something. Hope is a driving force, a spark that makes your heart beat faster and thrusts you onto journeys you never thought possible. When it shatters, it takes some time to piece together again. Hope is terrifying.
But when Hope is finally realized...there's nothing like it. Especially when you look back and realize that all your tears and sleepless nights were not for nothing.

've been told that God does not waste passion spent on Him. So I hang onto that. And I am telling you all of this because I need to remind myself...

Take the rejection and move on. Fight through the hard days, something beautiful is on the other side. Quit comparing yourself, they started somewhere at the bottom too.

Your story is unique. It is valuable. And yes, I know it's hard and not every chapter makes sense or gives you butterflies. Don't worry. There would be no happily ever after without the tears.

So. From one fighter to the next, keep going.

It's going to be okay.

That’s really encouraging stuff right there. It reminds me of making sermons for school. You have an idea that you have to try and bring out, you spend time and effort on it and in the end you hope that it’s a help to someone. Keep at it! You have a great start as a writer. Keep God at the center and do it for his glory, you can’t go wrong with that.

Hey Nita! This post was a huge encouragement to me! Can't wait to read more of your posts! There's hope, even if writing is hard--something that I've been learning myself!
